Distribution of I^(-131) Administered to the Thyroid Cancer Patient by the Oral Route. (Case Report)

Abstract
|

|
The author has studied the I^(-131) distribution in the body who had died from thyroid cancer only 5 hours after the oral administration of 10 me Nat 131 for the therapeutic purpose.
As one could easily expect, the concentration of I^(-131) was highest in the thyroid gland but the intrathhroidal distribution was not even or homogenous. Rejecting the results from the esophagus and stomach scince they were the route or pool of the administered isotope, higher concentration was found in the lung, blood, gonad and pancreas on the other hand the skin, small intestine and brain showed lower concentration.
